Tea From Ma is a personal homage to reconnecting with my Chinese heritage. It introduces some of China's most cherished teas, exploring their types, flavors, and brewing methods, while celebrating the timeless art of tea.

Hosted at Pioneer Works, Visions of Climate Futures is a panel that explores bold, optimistic solutions to climate change through conversation, art, and science. I created a cohesive identity to celebrate this shared hope of a climate-forward future.

PROMPT

Create a 120 to 180 second product video for any brand or product.

I chose traditional Chinese tea to share a part of my culture with a wider audience. Chinese teas are often portrayed in a way that can feel intimidating, so I wanted to make them more accessible and inviting for curious tea enthusiasts.

RESEARCH

The concept of my video was a phone call between daughter and mother.

To make my video feel genuine, heartfelt, and approachable, I decided to center my video around a phone call between my friend her Taiwanese mother inquiring about tea.

REFLECTION

Knowing how to ask for help can save a lot of time when working in After Effects.

The most challenging part of this project was figuring out how to achieve the look I wanted when I wasn't as familiar with the techniques or tools of After Effects.

The best way I learned was through many online searches and especially by consulting my professor.

Special thanks to Stephanie, Ma, and Professor Bridget Weiss for their continued support throughout my design process!
